This sports and swimming center is designed as a harmonious connection between the wetlands and the town of Berkel, integrating nature into the built environment. The waving roof structure reflects the movement of water and the surrounding landscape, visually and functionally linking the wetlands to the new urban development.

A key focus of the project is sustainability through biobased materials. Locally sourced materials such as bamboo, mycelium, and aqua panels are explored for insulation and finishing elements. The structural and façade materials are chosen to minimize environmental impact while enhancing durability and thermal performance.

Beyond its architectural concept, the building serves as a social hub for the community, fostering interaction and well-being through sports and recreation. The integration of natural water systems supports climate-adaptive design, ensuring a resilient and energy-efficient environment.
